Sometimes you really want the Command Prompt Right there on your context menu may be for running your favorite adb commands or may be running some java files or any other custom scripts.

If you want really quick access to launch command prompt or any other application without putting extra icons on your desktop, you can add that application to the context menu for the desktop with a simple registry setting. Here’s how to do it.

1. Open Registry Editor on your windows laptop (You can do this by pressing Win+R key and then by typing RegEdit and finally hitting the Enter key for launching the program) A dialog box will be opened there Confirm the dialog box by clicking on Yes button.

2. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\directory\background\shell  location in the registry editor. Here you will see two subfolders named shell and shellx.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\directory\background\shell

3. Open the shell directory and click on New > Key and name it cmd.  You will see a default key automatically generted for the created directory.

4. Edit the default  key by double clicking on it and enter "Open &Command Prompt Here" in its value field.

5. Again create a subdirectory within cmd and name it "command" and again a default will be generated for the command directory also.

6. Edit the default key and enter the path of  program "Command Prompt" in the value field eg. "C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe" (You can get the path of a particular programm by pressing shift + right click and selecting "Copy Path" from the context menu.)

7. You'll see the effect just press WIN+D key and right click anywhere on the desktop, if it isn't there you may need to restart your windows laptop and changes are saved on next reboot.
